DIY ISPs
ISPs don't have to be big telcos. They can be anybody, including you and I. They can also compete on features, price, quality of service while also offerieng novel solutions (mesh networks, long-range radios for last-mile links, ...).
#Franciliens.net
[Franciliens.net](https://www.franciliens.net) is a DIY ISP in and around Paris, and is a member of [FFDN](https://ffdn.org), a federation of DIY ISPs. I joined Franciliens.net for the technical aspects of an ISP. Since it was going slow due to untold different expectations between its founders (very technical vs. very people-minded members), I took on the secretary. I re-invigorated the ISP by scheduling and running regular and goal-oriented meetings.
I then became involved in FFDN which is a large (<1500 members total) and became Vice President.
I've stepped down from my positions to leave room for others. I want to remain involved. Unfortunately COVID-19 has made it quite difficult for various technical reasons but I am hopeful to resume soon, probably on more technical matters.
